HDH plays a role not only as a trade association but also as an employers’ association. It advises its members in particular on issues of collective bargaining policy and supports proceedings concerning labour and social laws, as well as offering expertise on economic development and topics relating to the job market.
HDH is the contact for its social partner, the union IG Metall, on a national level. It pools its members’ interests with regards to collective bargaining policy. Regionally managed collective bargaining negotiations are centrally coordinated by HDH bodies. Alongside this, HDH also acts as a service company for its members and in particular for the affiliated collective bargaining associations of the timber and furniture industry and the plastics processing industry.
